How We Can Augment Our Mouths for Tastier Sex
Our future mouths could give us oral pleasure all over, enabling us to truly savor partners.
Once we’ve unlocked genetic engineering’s full potential, what’s from stopping us from using it, coupled with a good dose of erotic imagination, to transform human sexuality?
Our mouths are a fantastic place to start.
Sure, we can link our mouth’s already copious sensitive and sensual nerves directly to our genitals—but the possibilities reach far beyond that.
Appetizer: Reconstructed lips and tongues
How about upgrading what we can do with our lips and tongues?
Our lips could be either segmented, each part able to move independently, or perhaps they’d be more like having a pair of labia majora. Each infinitely moveable and jam packed with millions of lusciously pleasurable nerve endings.
Lengthened, widened, strengthened, and restructured, our tongues also might become a second set of genitalia. Even more so if reshaped with both provider and recipient’s mutual sexual pleasuring in mind.
We could also give ourselves a few more taste buds to go along with all this, ones designed to taste and savor a partner like never before.
For reference, consider cephalopods like octopi and cuttlefish and how they change their skin color and texture on the fly. Now picture your mouth doing the same.
Main course: Feedback circuits and specialized glands
Similarly, why not equip ourselves with a sexually-oriented autonomic feedback circuit?
A circuit like this would allow our new taste buds to unconsciously detect subtle changes in a lover’s arousal and help to synchronize theirs to ours. Simultaneous orgasms or improved sexual syncopation would be as easy as matching someone else’s breathing.
All perhaps aided by specialized glands, which would let us secrete an appropriate range of desensitizing, pleasure boosting, or really tasty compounds.
Temperature control would also allow us to make our re-engineered lips and tongues cooler or hotter as needed.
More out there is the idea of integrating our mouths with a few other senses. Sure, it may not be for everyone but imagine smelling, hearing, or even seeing with your tongue or lips.

Dessert: Oral pleasure everywhere
There’s also no reason why genetic engineering wouldn’t prevent us from developing an entirely new range of sex-specific senses. We could even mix in a few senses from the animal kingdom, like a reptile’s thermal sensitivity or the electroreception of a platypus.
Eventually, we’ll look beyond the natural world for inspiration.
Before reaching that far-off point, we could take our newly reinvented senses to new and perhaps unexpected places.
For instance, equipping our feet and toes with oral or genital nerves. Playing footsie or just taking a barefoot walk in the park would have an entirely new meaning. Same for our hands or fingers, so holding hands and making love could be wonderfully synonymous.

While we must approach genetic engineering with care, caution, and conscientiousness, we shouldn’t ignore its potential.
Who knows, maybe a tastier tomorrow will help us be better people by looking beyond our fears and seeing a world of limitless emotional, physical, and sexual possibilities.
