First Large-Scale Study of Women’s Pleasure Finds 12 Ways to Give An Orgasm

OMGYES is a website that teaches 12 ways to give women an orgasm. The website’s content is based on the experiences of 2,000 women, aged 18 to 95, and includes film, technology, and firsthand data.

This information is converted into 50 short videos of women discussing their best orgasms and how they or their partners achieved them. This is balanced with statistics that show the prevalence of each variation of orgasm and infographics clarifying how they work.

The website was created by Lydia Daniller and Rob Perkins, a lesbian and a straight man respectively, after conversations about sex and their realization that women’s sexual pleasure is still considered a taboo subject in many circles. Following this thought, they noted that there is a lack of education on this subject.

When asked why one of the participants became involved she explained: “[Pleasure is] a magical thing, and we all want it, but we don’t want to talk about it.”

Their research revealed 12 different ways to stimulate sexual pleasure in women through touch. One of these ways is appropriately named “Edging.” This process involves repeatedly nearing an orgasm, but preventing it before it happens to build better and longer lasting orgasms.

Other lessons include “Hinting,” which involves touching areas near erogenous zones and only occasionally indulging, “Rhythm” an almost musical loop of motion, and “Layering,” a form of indirect pleasure achieved through touching the surrounding skin of erogenous zones.

Users can interact, practice and learn about female orgasms through 11 touchable simulation videos via the website. The simulation videos are created based on photos of the genitals of the woman who is telling her story. Feedback is also included in the simulation to guide users.

As a result of the successful response to the website, 50,000 users in the first two months, Daniller and Perkins have started another series which explores how sexual pleasure changes over the course of someone’s life.

The website is not subscription based, but still requires a fee for users to see and use the full content. OMGYES’s revenue goes toward research aimed at de-stigmatizing and demystifying the facts about sexual pleasure.
