Japanese Sex Toy Maker Creates Man-Sized Erotic Sleeping Bag

While done for laughs, the idea still has sensual potential.

Sure, there’s something downright magical about a developer who can pull a fresh and unique idea right from their foreheads—but you also have to give credit to others who’ve looked and A, added B, and gotten a totally unexpected Z.

We’ve seen quite a bit of this in sex tech, like the idea of using facial recognition technology to find your adult performer lookalike.

A man-sized sex sleeve

But Tenga, a Japanese company known for some pretty playful, if not outrageous, ways of marketing their adult entertainment devices have taken (A) a version of their popular “sleeve” sex toy, added (B) an inflatable sleeping bag, and have come up with (Z) something actually pretty intriguing.

As reported by soranews24, while Tenga did sell a few of their life-size Spinner sleeves it was primarily created as a way to publicize their regular size versions.

Even though created as a tongue-in-cheek marketing ploy, and that Tenga has never come out and said that the giant sleeve can be used for sexual pleasure, their A plus B getting Z device could actually become a unique tool for sexual gratification.

True, you can’t really use the mega-sleeve the same way you would the regular-size-sleeve and, as Soranews24 points out, cleaning it would be far from fun, but being enveloped in a restrictive, intimate, and flexible cocoon is something that many have been deeply hungering for.

Yep, we’re talking bondage—and an inflatable form of it could be a dream come true for fans of being erotically restrained.

Inflatable sex fun

Think of it this way: while aesthetically pleasing, rope bondage can be very risky—especially for the inexperienced; handcuffs should never, ever be used (ever!); heavy-duty metal shackles and the like can be wildly expensive; the same goes for leather or latex mummification.

So why not take what Tenga is doing as a joke and instead turn it into a safe, affordable, and best of all arousing new bondage tool? Not only would it be easy to get out of (just release the air) but an inflatable system could also give a great feeling of intimate restriction that can move and breathe with the person being restrained.

Add to this putting in warm or cool air for a bit of temperature play, attach electrodes for some juicy fun, or equip the person enclosed with their choice of sexual appliance and then the fun really fun begins.

Let’s make this happen

Tenga definitely has a sense of humor when it comes to PR around its products. But its envisioned sex sleeve and sleeping bag pairing might be more than the sum of its various parts.

Let’s just hope that they, or another A plus B equals Z sex tech developer realizes this and takes what was done as a stunt and turns it into a possible new erotic game-changer—and soon!

M.Christian (they/them) loves nothing better than exploring the intersections of sex and technology—and speculating on the future of both. A highly regarded erotica writer they have six novels,12 collections, 100+ short stories, and 25 anthologies as an editor to their name. Their non-fiction regularly appears in many sites, but they're most proud of being a regular contributor to Future of Sex.

Of their erotic fiction, Tristan Taormino said that “M.Christian is a literary stylist of the highest caliber: smart, funny, frightening, sexy—there's nothing [they] can't write about… and brilliantly.”

Reflecting their unique ability to sympathetically and convincingly write for a range of genders and sexual orientations, their stories have appeared in multiple editions of Best American Erotica, Best Gay Erotica, Best Lesbian Erotica, The Mammoth Books of Erotica, and others. Their collection of gay erotic fiction, Dirty Words, was a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award.

While a majority of their stories have been collected into books like Dirty Words, their fondness for combining sex and science fiction is clearly evident in collections that include Rude Mechanicals, Technorotica, Better Than The Real Thing, Skin Effect Effect, Bachelor Machine, and Hard Drive: The Best Sci-Fi Erotica of M.Christian.

As a novelist, M.Christian’s versatility is on full display with Running Dry, The Very Bloody Marys, Brushes, Painted Doll; and the somewhat controversial queer BDSM/horror/thrillers Finger's Breadth, and Me2.

M.Christian has worked on the industry’s production side as an Associate Publisher for Renaissance E Books and as a Publisher for Digital Parchment Services. The latter dedicated to celebrating the works of science-fiction legends such as William Rotsler, Jerome Bixby, Jody Scott, Arthur Byron Cover, Ernest Hogan, and James Van Hise.

Covering topics like BDSM safety, sexual education, senior sexuality concerns, queer and gender issues, plus reviewing a variety of sex tech products, M.Christian’s non-fiction has appeared on sites like Kinkly, Tickle.Life, Sexpert, Queer Majority, Sex for Every Body, and—of course—their ongoing work for Future of Sex.

If there’s anything M.Christian enjoys more than writing, it’s teaching. A featured presenter, sometimes with their friend Ralph Greco Jr, at national sex and BDSM events, they have lectured on kink play (with an emphasis on safety), polyamory, boosting sexual creativity, and erotica writing--for beginners or those wanting to go pro.

M.Christian is a cohost on two popular sex-education podcasts: Love’s Outer Limits with Dr. Amy Marsh and Licking Non-Vanilla with Ralph Greco, Jr.
