Is blockchain the path to financial freedom for sex workers?

At this year's AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas, I had the pleasure of speaking to model and SpankChain advisor Brenna Sparks.

Spark became interested in cryptocurrency after her bank blocked access to her funds because of her work in adult films. She eventually regained access, thanks to her dedicated fans. However, the rotten experience pushed her into finding a better way to protect her earnings.

She's since brought incredible attention to crypto and blockchain, touting it for offering models better financial security than traditional banks. In 2018, CoinDesk also ranked her as one of the top ten most influential people in blockchain.

You can watch my brief interview with Brenna Sparks below. She speaks about how and why sex workers can get paid in cryptocurrency. The video transcript of the interview is posted underneath.

Brenna Sparks: Hey, I'm Brenna Sparks.

Jenna Owsianik: So what's your favorite thing about cryptocurrency?

Brenna Sparks: My favorite thing about cryptocurrency is the financial freedom, that we don't have to deal with a middleman. We don't have to deal with cam sites taking all of our earnings. We don't have to deal with content sellers taking our earnings. We don't have to deal with chargebacks, and we don't have to wait for our money and we can get it instantly.

Jenna Owsianik: What advice do you have for other performers who might want to start using crypto as a form of payment? What would you say to them?

Brenna Sparks: I would say that you don't need to deal with banks. Just cut off the banks and just control your own earnings. Cryptocurrency is really hard, but it's really worth the effort.

Jenna Owsianik: Great, thanks. Is there anything else you wanted to add?

Brenna Sparks: Let's see. If you're an adult performer, you should definitely check out SpankChain, if not just SpankChain, just make sure you just look up Bitcoin or Ethereum or a cryptocurrency in general and just get started.
