And I guess that’s because “they” aren’t in a relationship, she’s in a relationship with it. It has no say in the matter, just like a book a person keeps on a shelf or a folding chair at home. So, “they” are not engaged, she engaged herself to it, and she threw the engagement party. If you set fire to it it would have the same serene eyes she is quoted in other articles as being enamored of.
